Flat Octopus had the pleasure of visiting artist Ljubomir Popović in his current home and studio. The object of the meeting was to continue discussing the preparations for his solo show with us later this year.
Based on critical reflections of processes of gentrification and disposability, Popović makes use of found materials and temporary methods for mounting, assembling and presenting objects used in construction, to create sculptural objects and installations in almost deceptively alluring and minimalistic color schemes. Refusing to take a single permanent shape, his sculptures often live several lives as they take on new forms, combinations and contexts.
Alongside his sculptural practice, Popović is also a proficient painter, currently exploring methods for painting with minimal human interference.
