A special day requires a special festivity: two locations, bonded by creativity, a performative moment, and a summery picnic. Let’s celebrate the 5th anniversary of Flat Octopus!

FIRST PART ~ FÄRGFABRIKEN PROJECT SPACE ~ 11.00–16.00 (Lövholmsbrinken 1, 117 43 Stockholm)

11.00–14.00 → Quinquepus Zine ~ participatory bookbinding workshop with Juanma González. The workshop is open to everyone and does not require any reservation in advance. Just come and join us! If you have any memorabilia related to Flat Octopus that can be inserted into your zine, please bring it with you.

14.50–15.15 → ‘a single golden ray’ ~ performance by Heidi Edström (ingentinget)

The anniversary event starts at Färgfabriken Project Space. Juanma González (Flat Octopus) introduces the audience to the world of bookbinding by showing and explaining a number of basic methods. As part of the workshop, you are warmly invited to participate and create your own unique Quinquepus Zine. For this, we will use the remaining copies of all exhibition brochures produced by Flat Octopus over the past years. Reactivating and upcycling our printed archive and bonding with our audiences through creativity is one of our ways to make this anniversary memorable, together with some surprises and fika.

The festivity continues with a special guest performer Heidi Edström (ingentinget), who presents her latest performance ‘a single golden ray’. “I propose a toast. Let us drink together, transform this molten gold into something else.”

SECOND PART ~ VINTERVIKEN PARK (Aspudden) ~ 17.00–21.00 → Quinquepus Picnic

An anniversary wouldn’t be complete without a picnic. Therefore, the closing act of Flat Quinquepus is an informal festive gathering in Vinterviken Park with carefully curated and artistically made vegan wraps, simple picnic snacks and light beverages. Please bring a blanket and your preferred drinks.

You are welcome to walk with us from Färgfabriken Project Space to Vinterviken on the shore of Trekanten Lake or join us at the picnic location when it suits you. / Contact: Edit, 0728522049

~ ~ ~ If the weather will not be picnic-friendly (raining or other unexpected conditions occur) an alternative plan will be implemented and communicated on our social media platforms.

Heidi Edström is a performance and installation artist based in Stockholm. Edström’s works revolve around the ongoing investigation of The Knöl. A shapeless concept that approaches thoughts and beliefs around the uncertain border between health and sickness, order and disorder, the expected and unexpected. She has a background in theatre, and a deep interest in dance, larp, role-playing and science fiction literature. In addition to her artistic practice, Edström is also a member of the punk/performance band Kulturprofilerna and is active in the artist-run associations Best Before Collective and Fylkingen.
